- Virtual Reality is still useless for consumers. “Meanwhile, it’s instructive that now that we’re all locked up at home, video calls have become a huge consumer phenomenon, but VR has been not. This should have been a VR moment, and it isn’t.” Did I tell you so? Why, I believe I did.
- Vinyl records were shit. This post goes through every detail of why they were a disaster to anything resembling sound quality. There must be digital audio workstation plugins that will mangle recordings so as to simulate that warm vinyl sound.
- I wondered a bit at Steve Albini’s 2014 solution to The Problem With Music. But, he turned out to be 100% correct — play live, you can make a living like that, treat your records as advertising for your shows! Unfortunately, that’s just been stopped dead (archive). You should hit Bandcamp with your spare dollars.
