Lobby Loyde: godfather of Australian hard rock

A fascinating interview with Lobby Loyde, the guitarist cited by Cobain, Rollins and Bored! (who covered two of his songs), in today’s EG in The Age.

Loyde, in Melbourne for the Long Way to the Top concerts, reveals how he helped AC/DC launch their career in the UK by writing up fake reviews for the English press: “Well, someone had to do it, ‘cos no one ever bothered … nobody had actually reviewed them in this country.”
