- It looks like Audible has quietly dropped the DRM on at least some book files. Now just straight-up 32kbps MP3s of 22kHz mono audio. (Though others I’ve examined appear to be a mangled AAC that VLC chokes on, the mangling presumably being the piss-weak DRM encryption …)
- “First, the sub-30s, who are getting into an antiquated format when a load of music is free or super-cheap to hear/download, because: a) they’re idiots and b) there’s only so many bear brushes, bowlers and boneshaker bikes with breadbaskets you can buy until you have to move blindly to the next vintage thing.” It’s not like people want the (literal) tons of old editions of these records on vinyl.
