I’ve been reluctant to even mention the really obviously fraudulent chart performances of fake AI music lately. I have no wish to accidentally give these fucks even that much publicity.
The problem is music journalists who somehow just forgot that payola and fake numbers have been de rigeur for a century.
But this month’s example is prizewinningly egregious. An AI band topped the Billboard country charts! Wow! Well, it topped the Billboard country digital song sales chart. That’s one of the very tiny also-ran charts.
Their total sales to top the country downloads chart was … 3,000 downloads. They bought their way onto the chart for $3,000.
